Congresswoman Grace Meng

I was extremely honored to be in the company of many community leaders at the fundraising rally to re-elect Congresswoman Grace Meng.

I want to extend the most heartfelt gratitude to Congresswoman Grace Meng for her unyielding championship for the community. Since the onset of the pandemic, Anti-Asian hate crimes have surge to an unprecedented degree. Congresswoman Grace Meng did not let the outrage and pain the AAPI community experiencing go unnoticed. As a measure to combat “the second pandemic of racism and discrimination,” she introduced the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which was signed into law by President Biden. Congresswoman Meng further secured $30 million for “a grant program that would advance community-based approaches to addressing hate crimes.”

I strongly support the re-election of Congresswoman Grace Meng. We need a champion of the people like Congresswoman Grace Meng in Congress.

Let’s work together to oppose discrimination, hate, and violence and realize the core of Congresswoman Meng’s COVID-19 Hate Crime Act:

"Condemns and denounces all forms of anti-Asian sentiment, including those related to COVID-19." (“Asian American and Pacific Islander Support & Resources ...”)

Condemns all manifestations of expressions of racism, xenophobia, discrimination, anti-Asian sentiment, scapegoating, and ethnic or religious intolerance.

Calls on Federal law enforcement officials, working with State and local agencies to

To expeditiously investigate and document all credible reports of hate crimes, harassment, bullying, and threats against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in the United States.

To expand collection of data and public reporting to document the rise of incidents of hate crimes relating to COVID–19; and

To hold the perpetrators of those crimes, incidents, or threats accountable and bring such perpetrators to justice, including through investigation and prosecution.

"By prioritizing language access and inclusivity in communication practices; and" (“Meng Reintroduces Resolution to Denounce Anti-Asian Hate ...”)

By combating misinformation and discrimination that put Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders at risk.

Calls on the Attorney General to work with State and local agencies and Asian American and Pacific Islander community-based organizations to prevent discrimination and expand culturally competent and linguistically appropriate education campaigns on public reporting of hate crimes.
